ATEX COMPLIANCE
The CFA BTP Pont Sainte Marie trains carpenter, fitter and joiner
apprentices. Following a recommendation visit by NEU-JKF Wood
Industry, this training centre wished to review its central vacuum
installation.
The old installation no longer complied with ATEX standards. It was
located in a separate room inside the building, which was very dusty.
The workshop had a fleet of 12 fixed machines and several finishing
stations using portable equipment.
NEU-JKF Wood Industry was called in to help protect both students
and teachers from the dust generated during practical work.
A SYSTEM THAT PROTECTS OPERATORS WHILE PROVIDING WORKING COMFORT
The first step was to offer full support in defining
the need. This stage enables the customer to
be advised on the most suitable dust removal
solution.
NEU-JKF Wood Industry installed a flowcompensated
and regulated extraction system.
This system ensures an optimum suction rate
depending on the number of machines in
use at the same time. The centralized suction
system is connected directly to the machines
at the suction outlets of the machine bonnets
and protects the operator. On the other side the
system is connected to the dust collector.
The system is controlled automatically. The machine suction ducts are equipped with an electro-pneumatic flap. The
opening and closing of each door is controlled by the machine start-up.
In addition, a centralised high vacuum extraction system offers a solution for portable tools. These tools generate the
finest and most harmful dust. Hoses can be connected directly to the tools so that the dust can be extracted when the
tools are in use.
The dust, chips and sawdust are collected in a briquette press. This press will reduce the volume of waste by 90%.
